Challenges

  • Aging deck and non-operable original wood windows
  • Popcorn ceilings and dated finishes throughout

Key Decisions

  • Opened the kitchen to improve flow while preserving the original architectural feel
  • Removed railings and added wraparound stairs to emphasize the sunken living room design
  • Enlarged the kitchen sink window to maximize views and natural light
  • Rebuilt the entire deck and replaced all operating windows
  • Matched interior and exterior colors to the home’s original Idaho flagstone
