Intro

1955 Boise renovation centered around opening the home’s main living spaces while creating stronger architectural focal points throughout.

Overview

The original layout separated the kitchen, dining, and living areas, limiting flow and functionality throughout the home.

Challenges

  • Small galley kitchen
  • Segmented main living spaces
  • Damaged exterior entry features
  • Limited connection to the backyard

Key Decisions

  • Removed the formal dining area to significantly expand the kitchen
  • Built a custom dining feature around a new structural beam and post
  • Added a covered patio and upgraded garage space for improved entertaining
  • Wrapped and rebuilt the damaged brick entry planter into an integrated bench feature
  • Used rich exterior tones and warm wood accents to strengthen the architectural character

Result

The renovation created a far more open and functional home with stronger entertaining spaces and a distinctive architectural identity.
